A living thing, not a plant

Natural sea sponges are living organisms — Phylum Porifera, with no organs, no nervous system, no brain or muscles (which also means they're not vegan). They live fixed to rocks in the clean, sunlit seas off the Aegean coast of Greece, traditionally hand-harvested one at a time. Remarkably, once harvested they grow back, making them a naturally regenerative material. Their soft, elastic skeleton is made of spongin, a collagen protein.

Gentle by nature

Gentle enough for the face and body, our sea sponge supports the skin barrier rather than stripping it. It's naturally loaded with iodine and enzymes that resist bacterial overgrowth, and its 100% natural porous structure rinses clean with ease — no latex, plastics, or dyes, ever. Naturally hypoallergenic, it won't shed irritating particles or trap bacteria and mould, making it gentle even on sensitive or compromised skin.

Built to last

Strong when dry, flexible when wet, and resistant to tearing — a single sponge will last 3 months

A ritual older than memory

Sea sponges have been prized since Ancient Greek and Roman times, woven into Mediterranean folklore as a symbol of purification and ritual washing, tied to the sea itself as a cleansing force. Traditionally used for babies, facial cleansing, and period care, this is a living material with a story of craft, danger, and tradition.
